Lear Theater, exterior in renovation

The PRW Project is extremely grateful to Jessica Miller of Lear Theater, Incorporated in Reno, Nevada for sending and giving permission to include in the Gallery photographs of the restoration of the 1938 Paul R. Williams designed First Church of Christ, Scientist.

When the congregation moved to a new site in 1998, Moya Olsen Lear, daughter of Vaudvillian Ole Olsen and wife of aeronotical innovator Bill Lear, enabled the purchase of the building for conversion into a theater.  The Lear Theater flourished in downtown Reno in the historic classical revival building until the catalog of needed repairs convinced the board of directors to undertake a complete restoration and renovation.  Although still in progress, the patient attention to the details of Williams' design is visible in the photographs.  Learn more about the project and Lear Theater, Inc.

We encourage everyone who lives or works in a Paul R. Williams building to share images and stories with all the architect's fans.
