Mark Morgan, a resident of Los Angeles’ SeaView, is currently working to have this residential area of 262 houses added to an historic preservation list. While there are many 1950s tract home developments in the city of Los Angeles, this particular neighborhood is special because Paul R. Williams designed the majority of the buildings. Quoted in a recent newspaper article on his efforts, Mr. Morgan stated, “This is the largest collection of Paul Williams works that exists. They’re significant because of who he was and because the houses are very distinctive.” While Morgan was unable to convince the Ranchos Palos Verdes’ City Council to designate the area an historic preservation site, he is not giving up. He and a growing number of neighbors have enlisted the support of the Los Angeles Conservancy. They are currently collecting oral histories of original residents, period photographs and architectural plans. These materials will be shared with the Paul Revere Williams Project.
