TharpeBrinkerhoff House, Lovelock, NV

Two teams of photographers recently returned from trips to California and Nevada with hundreds of new images of Paul R. Williams’ building projects.

In Los Angeles the California crew photographed Williams’ designed buildings on the UCLA campus and commercial buildings including the Angelus Funeral Home, Golden State Mutual Insurance Company and MCA/Litton Industries.  They also photographed selected private homes around the city and individual residences in SeaView.  Mark Morgan, a SeaView resident spearheading the drive for historical designation, was instrumental in organizing the home visits. The team visited Palm Springs for additional images of the Palm Springs Tennis Club and documenting the now empty Town and Country Shopping Center and Restaurant.

The Nevada photographic team visited Reno and Lovelock for images of Loomis Apartments, El Reno Apartments and the Garvey House. They also documented the Raphael Hermann Ranch House. Mella Rothwell Harmon, Krautz Environmental Consultants, and Chip Evans, Evans Consulting, were important contacts and guides for the visit. Two previously undocumented Williams’ buildings in Lovelock, NV were photographed.

The new images and information will be posted to the Gallery. Valerie Santos (R) visits with Deborah Brackstone in front of the Tharpe/Brinkerhoff House. Photograph by Sam Brackstone, 2010.
